This week, the time came to take BL Ocean out of its premier installation, Edinburgh Zoo and take it 127 miles north to Aberdeen. Removing 30 models, dotted around one of the UK’s steepest zoos, in 24 hours was always going to be a challenge for Nat and I. If that wasn’t enough, we were tasked to deliver and install these within 48 hours for the BRICKLIVE Show at P&J Live, Aberdeen which runs from the 20th to 22nd of September.

With the amazing assistance from the zoo’s extremely helpful staff, we managed to get some of the models loaded on Tuesday night and they are now on their way to Aberdeen. As I write this on the train, the rest of the models are being loaded and I will meet them tomorrow morning to install them at the P&J Live venue, ready for them to amaze the public in a brand new location.

Meanwhile, Megan and Tracy have had no less than five different mosaic events to handle. They’ve been in at the home of author Roald Dahl in Buckinghamshire, in Cambridge, Kent,  across the North Sea in Copenhagen and here’s their report from Sidcup in south east London.

"Arriving at Sidcup with the guarded secret of the mosaic image, we were super excited to get started and see the participants build eagerly as we knew this was going to be a mosaic to be remembered. As the outline of the body started to take shape, followed by the mane and then the eyes were revealed, adults and children rushed and worked together until they could see the fruits of their labour.

Over three days of fun, excitement and returning faces to create just ‘one more tile’, the mosaic of the lion and his lioness was gradually revealed. It was hard to tell who was more excited, the children who loved and begged to build or the parents who wouldn't leave until they had finished. It became a community build and it was amazing to see everyone work and interact together to get this finished.

It was so popular that we moved it to a larger event space with the generous help of Sidcup Fire Brigade! The stunningly beautiful lion and lioness image definitely created a buzz."

My thanks to everyone in the events team for keeping our tours and shows running like clockwork.

Next up for me is to take a team to North America to move BRICKLIVE Animal Paradise from Brookfield Zoo, Chicago to Stone Zoo, Boston. I’ll be sure to bring you a report and photos from there.
